Summer Social Programme
The International English Centre provides a lively programme of social activities and trips for our students.
The Social Programme is open to students from all IEC courses. Most summer Social Programme activities are included in your course fee. On occasion, you may need to pay for a theatre or cinema ticket or for entrance fees to attractions. These additional costs will never exceed £25 per week and will usually be less.
We provide two trips and a range of evening events every week to help you to get to know Aberystwyth and its beautiful surroundings, enjoy the stunning coastline and the nearby mountains, and visit vibrant Welsh and English cities. Activities and destinations vary from year to year.
Each week there is a half day trip on Wednesday and a full day trip on Saturday. Below are some typical examples.
Full day Saturday trips to:
- Liverpool
- Manchester
- Cardiff (capital city of Wales)
- Chester (historical English town)
- Birmingham
- Shrewsbury
- Snowdonia National Park
Half-day Wednesday local trips, such as:
- Boat trips to look for dolphins in Cardigan Bay
- A visit to the magnificent Powis Castle
- Scenic walks at Ynyslas Nature Reserve
- A trip to world-renowned Centre for Alternative Technology
- Visits to local towns, markets and places of interest
There are evening activities to get involved in too. From cinema trips, sports, and team quizzes to international food evenings and beach barbecues, we offer a varied programme of activities to keep you entertained.
